Stop the Leak Fast

The constantly flushing toilet, and the leaky sink will add up to a high cost. Not only is that money in the form of higher water bills, but also the leak can eventually worsen causing more damage to the plumbing.

A larger emergency can be even more expensive. Bathroom plumbing especially can develop large problems quickly. No one wants to experience a clogged toilet or a bath that will not drain for very long. Finding a plumber with a professional attitude, and a reputation for customer satisfaction is critical at this point.

Trying to make repairs alone, or with the help of someone 'handy' with plumbing might sound like a cheaper alternative, but this can add up to a much higher cost eventually if the work is not done correctly. (more...)

Bathroom Showrooms

Running a plumbers merchants in this day and age is a competitive business indeed, especially for those small, independent merchants who have to compete with the big boys like PTS and Plumbcentre.

A Clean Project

As I am currently going through the process of having a new bathroom installed myself, there are two ways of doing it as I see it.

The first way is to buy everything yourself and then have it fitted which can save you money and the second way is to get a quote from a bathroom shop to supply and fit the whole lot, which can be more expensive but is a whole lot easier.

Do It Yourself

As a householder who is currently going through the process of having a new bathroom fitted, I share the pain of those who are thinking of upgrading their bathroom and if I had realised the impact on my life in terms of cost and hassle then I would probably have thought twice before embarking on such a project.

I could never have realised just how much this was going to cost me until the quotes started rolling in – after all how expensive can a new toilet and bath be?

But now that I am thousands of pounds lighter, I can start to understand why people do take the decision to whip out the cordless power tools and do the bathroom themselves, despite the difficulties involved. (more...)

Redesigning Your Bathroom

Redesigning your bathroom on your own is not a beginner's task. It will require plenty of hard work, some bargain hunting and a whole lot of resourceful thinking.

If you choose to opt to take on this task without the help of a designer, it is important, to begin with, that you are fairly confident both in your ability to execute DIY projects, and in your tastes and skills as an amateur interior decorator. Even if you excel in both of these areas, it remains a good idea to do some research before you set out.

Subscribe to a good interior decorating and DIY magazine. This kind of publication will help you with everything from choosing Bathroom Taps to picking out a colour palette and this kind of expert advice will doubtless come in handy some time during the renovations. (more...)
